Women: Stop Saying These Phrases
TRANSCRIPT:
There are words used by all of us
that convey an unintentional gender bias.
One of these is attention whore,
something we probably shouldn’t say anymore.
Because, see, attention is a human need.
Don’t believe me? Scroll your Instagram feed.
Guys, girls, selfies at the gym.
Be like her. Look like him.
When women do it,
we’re the needy, fame-seeking ones.
But when the guys from Jackass do it?
Well, that’s just for fun.
Next up: drama queen.
This one’s actually kinda mean.
It refers to a woman acting “psycho,”
not her best, but the truth is
guys break down too.
Kanye West?
What’s worse is this phrase ends dialogue
sending emotions into a dramatic fog.
“You’re such a drama queen,” makes me feel
crazy … absurd …
versus, “You’re experiencing a lot right now,”
which says, “You’re seen. You’re heard.”
So let’s bury the drama queen deep in her grave.
By talking instead of name-calling
it could be a life you save.
When people express, they may cry or wail,
and that’s ok, whether you’re male or female. 🔷
